To the Walker Family and Estate:
I am truly saddened about the death of two such smashign peole as Billy and Bettie. I have been gone from the states for a few years and was not abel to keep up so closely with all that has happend. But he was a wonderful performer and always brightened my day or night when listenign to him My favorite holiday was when visiting the Opry back in the early 80s and getting to see him in person. I know that the Lord is now getting some real country entertainment. May God Bless the family.

On a recent trip to Nashville, one of the first places we visited was in Madison, TN ~ Laurel Hill. This happens not to be a street located in an exclusive development; yet is located in one of the most sacred and beautiful surroundings on God’s green earth – Spring Hill Cemetery, the earthly resting place for my dearest friends, Billy & Bettie Walker. With humility and sadness I gazed upon the beauty radiating from the black granite stone, their smiling faces looking back at me, the guitar statue signifying the talent and love they both shared for their music, family and friends. An emptiness surrounded me, knowing I could not hear their voice or feel their touch, yet that emotion traveled down another avenue before the day was over. The date, April 8th Tuesday night, I had tickets to the Grand Ole Opry, a must see for me on every TN trip. On entering through the Backstage doors and walking down the halls, taking in all the sites and sounds of this historical building, I felt a calmness that overpowered the emptiness inside. It was quickly revealed to me that even tho’ our loved ones were not walking beside us, their love and spirits permeated this structure from the foundation to center-stage. Yes, Billy & Bettie will forever be with us ~ until we meet again. Thank you both, ‘A Million & One’…… Always, Betty Parrish

Billy was a true country gentleman and I loved his music. Many songs were high on my list but "Cross the Brazos at Waco" is my all time favorite.
